BCHC Research Team Wins the Clinical Research Network Thames Valley and South Midlands Award
We are delighted to announce that BCHC Research Team has won the Clinical Research Network Thames Valley and South Midlands award for being the All-round High Performing Team.
In a competitive field, it is a fantastic achievement!
Research Lead, Dr James Kennard, has said “I’m delighted that the research team at BCHC has received this award. We have worked hard to grow the research activities at the practice over the past 4 years and feel that the opportunities available to our patients through participating in research studies is hugely valuable to them as well as to the wider public in helping to improve diagnosis, investigation and treatment of health conditions.
I am very proud of the multidisciplinary team we have involved in research at the practice including administrative staff, nurses, GPs and pharmacists. This award is a wonderful recognition of the tremendous contribution our research team makes with support from the practice team both locally and nationally to the NIHR research portfolio.”
During the evening, the HARMONIE study also won the Exceptional Contribution to a Commercial Study award. The HARMONIE study looked at looked at an immunisation in preventing hospitalisations due to respiratory syncytial virus in infants.
The combined work of NIHR, secondary and primary care teams across Thames Valley made it one of the highest recruiting regions in the UK for this study and BCHC was proud to recruit nearly 10% of Thames Valley participants.
