Cervical Smear FAQs
Is it safe for me to have my cervical cancer screening at the moment?
Yes, we have the necessary precautions in place to keep our patients and staff safe such as, wearing masks, social distancing and screening patients upon arrival with Covid19 questions. All of our clinical staff also wear PPE during all face to face examinations.
When will I get my results?
You should still get your results within 4 to 6 weeks after your appointment. However, your results may be delayed – this may be because your lab is processing a lot of cervical screening tests, or they have also been asked to process coronavirus tests.
What resources are out there to provide me with extra support?
You can of course always contact us at BCHC for any questions or worries you have. We also recommend that our patients visit websites such as; Jo’s cervical cancer trust, The NHS website and Macmillan Cancer Support (to name a few) for additional support, case studies and the most up to date information.
NHS - What is cervical screening?
We would like to extend a massive thank you to all of our patients for supporting the campaign this week. We would also like to say thank you to our amazing staff members; Dr Rogers, Dr Haynes and our Nursing Manager Suzanne Fletcher, for putting on their lipstick and getting in front of the camera, all for a great cause!
