Minutes - of the January 2025 meeting were approved unanimously

Matters Arising

  • Patient Survey

Staffing

  • A new Clinical Operations manager started at the end of January - 4 days a week. Nick Collins is a Paramedic and very well qualified. He manages ANP, Paramedic, Physio. Social Prescribers - to be asked to attend a PPG meeting.
  • Dr Neil Fisher (Director) Oversees primary care, looking at the needs of different groups of Patients.

Complaints, Compliments and Feedback

  • Phone answering has improved to approximately 8 minutes 45 seconds.
  • Reception team are great.
  • few niggles with the pharmacy in the same building
  • PM gave some feedback about Staff attitude. Kevin does observe staff from a distance and had not seen any problems and does expect high standards.

The building of a good PPG (Petronella)

  • What are we about? Trying to achieve? What is our role on the PPG and are we adding value?
  • Patient survey – PPG input
  • Questioned are we just for Marshalling,
  • PC, JR “when we are marshalling, we are engaging patients, giving support, information/leaflets”
  • Kevin gave his support - Clinic help is invaluable a positive team.
  • Information in the Constitution
  • KM agreed to meet with PM to discuss her presentation and agree some actions.

Vaccinations

  • AA had questions re the RSV vaccination. Worried about side effects.
  • It is being given to 75-79 years old people, it is recommended by the NHS for this cohort to reduce hospitalisation caused by the virus, the patients have a choice to take it up or not.
  • Childhood Vaccinations are the biggest challenge, perhaps there could be better information on the newsletter to help uptake.

Any other Business

  1. TC questioned a leaflet that was delivered to him that have been distributed from Tysoe and Kineton Surgeries, offering minor surgery, this is not allowed.
  2. BCHC are looking at doing minor surgery as in the past.
  3. Catherine – Did not attend (DNA) letter, 4 - 6% of patients usually per month, Nursing appointments affected more as often longer appointments. A letter is to go to those who DNA multiple times, used to send something before Covid.
  4. PC – reported 2 deaf patients in for appointment and no sign language as Doctor was not able to use the system, which is used where the interpreter and the Doctor logs on to the computer when the patient comes in. The interpreter signs to the patient and speaks to the Doctor. The appointments were wasted and another appointment needed. New Doctors need to be made aware of the system.
  5. Doctors to be asked to attend the PPG meetings, Kevin and PM to meet to discuss the queries?
  6. Kevin Murphy – Integrated Team being built up from new for Frail patients discharged from hospital to support them. This is focused care and similar to the Bicester model. PC reported that Amanda from this team had given excellent support to her and family.
  7. PPG to help with self- check in screen as patients uncertain how to correctly input and confirm.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday 20th March 2025 at 6pm education room BCHC.
