Research at BCHC

Dr. Dhassareth Manickham

Deputy research GP at Banbury Cross Health Centre gave a very interesting presentation regarding the role of the surgery as a research practice and its involvement with wider research networks.

The Research team is led by Dr James Kennard the team recently won the Clinical Research Network award for their team’s high performance.

Staffing

Dr. Alison Colville – Will work 5 sessions
Dr. Rosie Ali - new salaried GP will work 6 sessions from 1st February
Dr Das is leaving due to location
GP recruitment continues to be positive and there have been enquiries from other GPs
All Locums are regular
The flexibility of sessions worked has helped GPs

Nursing Staff

New Nursing Manager – Roxanne Seeney starts 23rd January 2024
Mary Jenkins – started 2nd January 2024 as Senior Practice Nurse

Data Team

One person has left, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will coordinate that work for surgery – trialled for a month. This primarily is to deal with patient registrations.

Registering of Patients

Approximately 700 a month, there is movement in and out of register.

Integrated Care Board (ICB)

Set Practices with targets to refer patients to appropriate Clinician
Lily O Connor sat in to see how triage works.
GPs train triage to work in same way as emergency services.

Compliments, Complaints and Feedback

Friends and family data – 900 – 1000 responses from Patient’s a month, helped by PPG members giving out the forms at COVID/Flu clinics.
87% have given really good feedback.
NHS Choices review profile looking better.
There has been 1 formal complaint which wasn’t upheld
Jen Nichols is now replying to all Google Reviews

9. AOB

Cancelling of appointments – Is on the website and can be added to the Newsletter
PPG members working on Clinics report how polite the Receptionists are to the Patients, sometimes in very difficult circumstances.

This hasn’t been completed at this time please contact AC if you want to add anything?

Car park

There is 15 minutes after parking to put car registration into device. This was between 8am and 6pm 5 days a week but is now 24 hours 7 days a week.
New signage is in the car park for the changes.
Online appointments – link not usable after 7 days.
Two new members have been. appointed to the PPG
Computer system problems for deaf Patients has been resolved.

Support Groups at the surgery

It was suggested that perhaps members of the PPG would like to help at the sessions. Let Hannah know if interested.
