Cervical Cancer Prevention Week

We are proud to announce that BCHC are supporting the annual Cervical Cancer Prevention Week 2022, #smearforsmear, which will be running nationwide from 17th- 23rd January.

You can read more about this here.

You cannot book a smear test without an invitation to do so. Current guidance states the following females are eligible for a cervical smear, unless directed otherwise by a clinician:

  • If you are between 25 and 49 you should be screened every three years.
  • If you are between 50 and 64 you should be screened every five years.

We are pleased to have had such a positive response to our smear clinic running at BCHC this Saturday 15th January and this is now FULL.  We are busy organising additional smear appointments at the practice over the next few weeks. We will let you know when these appointments are released and you will then be able to book these appointments online via Patient Access or The NHS App. Please only phone us if you cannot book online.

You can read more about smear test eligibility, what will happen during the appointment and why it is important on the NHS website.

Please keep an eye out on our Facebook page and the ‘News’ section on our website next week to see how we are supporting this great campaign.
