Home Visits
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible.
- If you do need a home visit, you can discuss this with the Call Centre Team by phoning the practice on 01295 256 261 from 8am, Monday to Friday.
- We would kindly ask that all patients requiring a home visit, telephone us before 11am if possible, so we can facilitate this as best we can with the resources that we have available on the day.
You may request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the Practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls.
Your doctor may direct the Paramedic Primary Care Visiting Service (PCVS) to attend in the first instance. The paramedic will liaise with your doctor as appropriate to determine the appropriate treatment for your needs. You can also be visited at home by a District Nurse if you are referred by your doctor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Read our FAQs about Appointments.
How do I get an appointment?
- If you feel that you need an appointment the same day then this page will have already detailed how you can do so.
- We have made the website easier to use
- Please write down or tell the call handler why you feel you need a same day appointment.
- The earlier you do this in the day the more likely there will be appointments available.
- If you feel that you need an appointment the routine then this page will have already detailed how you can do so.
- You don’t need to rush and call at 8am
- You can ask a trusted friend/family member to help you
- If you are unable to do either of these then you can come to the health centre and the reception team will help you complete an online request.
What is Triage?
- All appointment requests are looked at by the call centre team and they decide how best to use the appointments we have.
- They team are trained and follow written protocols, exactly like when you call 111 or 999.
- They will keep all your information confidential.
- The more useful information you give them the easier their job is.
- They want to get you an appointment with the best person to deal with your problem.
- If they are not sure who is best, they will ask the ‘on call GP advice’ who is a senior experienced GP.
- More urgent problems will be triaged to an ‘on the day appointment’ and others will be put on the waiting list for a routine appointment.
- The appointment may be with a GP, Physiotherapist, Advanced Clinician, Pharmacist, Nurse, Health Care Assistant, Mental Health Nurse or Social Prescriber. We also have trainee doctors who may see you.
- We may direct you to a pharmacy who is working with the NHS ‘Pharmacy First Scheme’
What is the waiting list?
- Our waiting list system is different to many other GP surgeries
- For a routine appointment you will go onto a waiting list and then will be contacted when an appointment is free to be booked.
- You will be contacted by text message or telephone - so ‘look out for this’; it may be the same day or a few days later – we won’t forget you!
- We aim for the wait to be 2 weeks or less so please contact us if you have not heard in this time.
- This waiting list system allows us to carefully keep a check on appointment availability and reduces the number of missed appointments – so we have more appointments available.
- You can choose ‘anyone’ to see you, or ask for a particular person
- If you ask for a particular person you will sometimes wait longer – but this can be helpful if it is someone who has been dealing with your problem.
- If you have any problems with your booking links then please phone between 11:00am to 6:30pm and a member of the team will help you.
Why do I have to wait?
- We would love to have appointments available for everyone but the NHS system is incredibly busy and so a wait for a routine appointment is unfortunately common.
- Appointments are very precious so we want to make sure they are used wisely. You can help us to do this by:
- Giving us useful information about your medical problem so we can triage really well
- Cancelling any appointments you don’t need.
- We aim to contact you within two weeks of your initial request
- If your medical condition gets worse while you are waiting, please let us know.
What if I need a translator?
- The website has a button on the top which can make the whole website in your language so please use this to help you
- Let us know if you need a translator for any language or for sign language in an appointment and we can arrange this easily for you
